J.D. Humphries, 85, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at Maria Parham Hospital of Henderson.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Glover Huff Humphries and Annie Mae Weary. He was of the Baptist faith, worked at Harriett of Henderson for several years and attended Stovall Church of God.

Entombment will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Meadowview Memorial Park.

Surviving are a daughter, Reba Humphries of the home, a son, Samuel Lee Humphries of Reidsville, three sisters, Nellie H. Bowen of Rougemont, Dorothy H. Burton of Henderson, Nettie Day Humphries of Henderson, a brother, Russell Humphries of Oxford, four granddaughter and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by Alfred Weary, C.T. “Boss” and James Humphries.

Visitation will be held at the home.

Omission of flowers is requested or memorials may be made to SPARE, P.O. Box 1793, Oxford, NC 27565.

Both Paul and I are so sorry for the passing of your dad. Paul said he wishes he could have been there for you, but we are to far away at this time. He will now be reunited once again with his friend Otha and what a great time they will have catching up. May he forever RIP and wear his angel wings well.
